IASSC Source: Lean Six Sigma Certification Exam Vouchers - IASSC, The Cost only for exam, not embedded with any preparation or training program.

BSI Source: Training online courses for Lean Six Sigma | BSI (bsigroup.com), The cost already embedded with training classroom

One thing you need to notice from each certification belts there are some perquisites. The Most stringent one was ASQ while IAASC not quite strict. In ASQ for example started from green belt there are more data need to be submitted , Even for Black belts you need to submit project with signed affidavit. It is understandable since ASQ were association and intended to upheld competency in their member.

meanwhile IAASC are the most value for money, however they are in position as only certifications body. I would recommend You to go to IAASC if you already had green belt and pursue black belts. Since exam certifications meaning mothing if there is no real-life project.

Six Sigma Certification Program type

From my decade experience in lean career There are three kind of six sigma certifications program. which is :

  1. Certification Body
  2. Training Provider
  3. Company Internal Program

Six Sigma Certification by Certified Body

The first type of six sigma certifications came from certification body. Certifications body are association or legal organizations that specifies some skillset's. They not provide preliminary training only had exam for the test.

This type of six sigma certifications were the cheapest yet hardest since you need to study by your own. Also they conduct some perquisites for certifications.

Six Sigma Certification by Training Provider

Second type six sigma certifications were by training provider. it may comes from university like purdue university, Training provider like BSI. They are providing training as well as certifications. In class and online self paced. however the cost is little bit higher than the first one.

Many people try to seek online six sigma training and certifications provider, which I'm not recommended since  some recruiter prefer live class and good project experience. many online certification training provider get scrutinized by recruiter.

Corporation

The last were certifications held by your company. many questions raise up, is it okay if I had internal six sigma certifications from my company?. Even tough it not cost any cent. there some disadvantages in the end. You Will get material that already " adapted" to your organizations, not in the full powerhouse six sigma tools.  However it also recognized by the recruiter Based on my experience, employer having no issue for internal six sigma certifications. Is it good exposure for leading changes as well as  you are onboard with the program.

Six sigma certification : Which should I Choose & started?

At first there are several types of six sigma certification which is started by White belt, yellow belt, green belt and end up with black belt. Some of provider put additional program is master black belt in combination between six sigma and project manager. Since it will reflect your resume, there favorability if you take one at time rather than jump with loopholes. It will give impressions that you are not have depth of the skill as well as hands on experiences. Since the certification will generally show your depth and understanding, six sigma certification cost will increase from white belt to black belt.

For you that just starting your career or currently just interested in six sigma I would like to suggest you enroll white belt program.  If you did some your own research by reading a book or join other problem-solving program outside six sigma like A3 Report and QC 7 step 7 tools yellow belt is okay. And if you are Practice problem solving by daily basis in quality o green belt program is the right match for you, and eventually if you already done some successful green belt project, I would suggest you enroll to black belt.

How long needed to get Six sigma certifications

According to the table Below are time no complete the course before the six sigma certification exam
